Are you perfect? I doubt it, neither am I. So, why try to develop and deliver the excellent speech? It cannot be done. Instead, focus on what you know about the topic that the audience needs to learn.
Talk about what your audience wants to hear, not about your credentials or your history. citizen want to learn something that will help them, they do not want to hear about how thriving you think you are.
Keep everything short.... Keep your background information short, keep your words short--do not try to impress everybody with your command of the English language, and, most importantly, keep your speech short.
Speak in a conversational manner. Forget about jokes, wisecracks, or humor, give your speech as if you were talking to your best friend, not as if you were in front of congress. citizen do not want to be talked down to, they want to be talked to!The fear of public speaking is not a real fear, it is an imagined fear about what could happen if things go wrong. The easiest way to preclude this from happening is to advent your speech the same way you would a conversation--in your general conversational manner.
